Humanitarian Relief Measures by the Srilankan Government!

One more of the many shocking evidences exposing the brutality of the Soliders towards Tamilians in Srilanka. Does the term "Justice" prevails in reality or it is just another word in the dictionary.

BJP's victory - Press Statement by Shri Lal Krishna Advani

After the BJP’s decisive victories in the Vidhan Sabha elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh towards the end of 2007, I had stated that 2008 would turn out to be a ‘Year of Change’ in national politics. My affirmation has been vindicated by the triumphant performance of the BJP in the Vidhan Sabha elections in Karnataka.

I sincerely thank the people of Karnataka for giving a mandate to my party. I also heartily congratulate the state unit of the BJP and Shri B.S. Yedyurappa, under whose leadership the party contested the elections, for this victory. This is a verdict against the Congress party’s politics of opportunism and the JD(S)’s politics of betrayal.

However, the Congress party would be indulging in self-delusion if it thought that the people of Karnataka were influenced only by local factors. The UPA government’s utter failure to control the prices of essential commodities, its soft and compromising policy on terrorism, and its insensitivity towards the plight of kisans have angered common people all over the country. This is evident from the Congress party’s defeat in almost all the Vidhan Sabha elections held since May 2004.

I have no doubt that my party’s triumph in Karnataka will prove to a turning point comparable to the quantum increase in parliamentary strength that the BJP achieved in 1989. It will be recalled that the BJP won 86 seats in the 1989 Lok Sabha elections compared to only two seats in 1984. Thereafter, the BJP’s victory march became unstoppable and led to the formation of the BJP-led NDA government in 1998. It also ended the Congress’ one-party domination at the Centre and transformed India’s polity into a bi-polar system.

Nearly 20 years later, another turning point has arrived in the challenge put up by the BJP to the hegemony of the Congress. Whereas earlier our party’s growth was due to its ability to form governments in northern and western states, and also, later, in Orissa and Bihar in the east, now for the first time we are in a position to form government in a southern state. This geographical expansion of the BJP, and the simultaneous shrinkage of the Congress party almost all over the country, shows the shape of things to come in the run-up to the next parliamentary elections.

New Bangalore Airport opens for traffic

The much-awaited Bengaluru International Airport finally opened late on Friday to commercial operations, with an Air India Airbus A320 (IC 609) from Mumbai being the first to land at 22.37 pm, carrying about 110 passengers and crew. The same aircraft took off as IC 957 to Singapore 15 minutes into Saturday (00:15 IST), with 80 per cent of its capacity (144 seats) filled. Captain Ishwar Pal and co-pilot Gourav Jaggi were behind the controls of the Airbus to cruise for 210 minutes and land at Singapore by 06:15 local time.
The Rs 25-billion ($625 million) greenfield airport is situated at Devanahalli, about 40 km from India's IT hub. It is surrounded by greenery and farmlands, with the historic Nandi Hills forming the backdrop. The airport inauguration was delayed three times before it finally became operational. There were several protests against the privately built airport because of its distance - about 35 kms from the city centre, at the end of a road that already routinely gets jammed with traffic.
The new airport has been built in record 36 months under public-private partnership to handle about 10-12 million passengers per annum till 2012. The consortium consists of Unique Zurich Airport, Siemens Project Ventures and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) as private promoters, while Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Karnataka government as state-owned promoters.

Aamir Khan apologizes to Shah Rukh Khan

After ridiculing the King Khan in his blog, Aamir Khan has tendered his apologies to Shah Rukh Khan, having incurred the wrath of many, fans and others. Their blogging war started with Aamir Khan making references to his dog named as Shahrukh in his blogpost.
Aamir had begun his blogpost saying, “Shah Rukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits. What more can I ask for”.
He was referring to a dog, named as Shahrukh by his caretakers of his home at Panchgani.
His attempt at humour however did not go well and came to heavy criticism far and wide in the country.
Aamir was therefore quick to apologize to Shah Rukh Khan. On the sidelines of the music launch of his movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na at the residence of veteran actor Shammi Kapoor, Aamir apologized, “My sincere apologies because I didn’t mean to upset anybody. That was not my intention, my intention was just in good humour. So, if someone has been hurt - my fans, Shah Rukh’s fans then my sincere apologies. I did not mean to hurt anybody.”
In his blog, he wrote,” Shah Rukh is a dear friend of mine and I have highest respect and regard for him. That blog was in good humour and a lot of people found it funny. However, some did not. Many felt I shouldn’t have said that. So my sincere apologies to people who were uncomfortable with that part,”.
It is usually Shah Rukh Khan who lampoons film personalities and colleagues. But Aamir Khan’s attempt to emulate him has fallen flat. Shah Rukh Khan has wisely kept quiet about this controversy and created an image of taking it sportingly. It is touché for King Khan.

Workshop on RESILIENCE by Anne Barab

Last week i got an email from the broadcast account that Yokogawa Toastmaster club has arranged for a workshop on Resilience and the speaker would be Mrs. Anne Barab. Like everyone else (those new to toastmaster's club), i thought that i shall beat the office hours by registering to this workshop as it was planned to be conducted in the afternoon session. And today was that day. Less did i realized that this would become an important day in my life! The speaker with her contents and delivery style had a tremedous impact on me. Little did i also realize that this is the kind of session i was looking forward without my knowledge, that which will guide you towards balancing the life at home and work.
The workshop was primarily focused on helping working adults to strike or help them to find out ways to strike a balance in life between work and home. Resilience is all about adapting yourself and progressing in your life. RESILIENCE is Reflect, Explain, Skills, Inspire, Learn, Imitate, Exercise, Network, Courage and Enjoy. It is more on to dragging you from being pessimistic to more optimistic.
During the course of the workshop, anne shared some wit and wisdom. Few of the Anne's Hootin Annies are

  1. Examine Yourslef (and look for patterns in life)
  2. Argue with the IDIOT in your head (control the negative thoughts and improve your self-talk)
  3. Use "Yes, AND..." (and avoid "Yes, BUT...")
  4. Write "5 GRATITIDES" everyday (helps you to appreciate the good in others and avoids seeing only the bad in others)
  5. Don't fret about the nags and find God's PURPOSE for your life!
  6. DON'T STRESS about the crumbs (Understand Life is full of Crumbs!)
  7. SEE THE BEAUTY in people.
  8. QUIT LYING to yourself.
  9. Get your heart-rate to 60% daily (Remember Aging is decay and decay is optional!)
    STOP eating crap.
  10. GIVE the gift of LISTENING.
  11. PUSH THROUGH your FEAR. (Have the courage to learn "What you fear?" and re-learn to covercome them)
  12. JUST SAY YES (and KISS THE PIG OF LIFE! - Be positive)

That was wonderful listening to her talk on the above elaborately. I shall update here in blog on each of these items when i find time. Meanwhile i shall recommend all my dear readers to attend such workshops by Anne, if you get a chance.

LIFE CAN BE LIVED BY GOING FORWARD BUT CAN BE UNDERSTOD BY ONLY LOOKING BACKWARD....

Mr.Bush, its time to retire gracefully or go back to school!

"Pity this old man Oh My Lord for neither he knows what he speaks nor he knows that soon he has to swallow back those !" Its high time that Mr.Bush has to retire (better!) or go back to school. Really i can't point to one school but probably i have some suggestions! He might need to attend business school to know how to manage his mean resources, he might need to study politics for he doesn't know how to run his government together with the rest of the world, he might need to study statistics for he doesn't know either to collect reliable data set or to interpret the correlations, he might need to attend some history and geography classes to know the boundaries of so called USA and to know something about the rest of the world and their history, in all he has to rush to his kindergarten before they close down due to recession!!!
Ironically my last post tried to bring to light the continued misjudgement of the administrators and wagging of their tongues irresponsibly. The world has been watching how Mr.Bush and his colleagues has been acting as clowns and making fun of themselves. The latest statements from Mr.Bush and Ms.Rice is at the top of all the recent jokes from the West! The jokers together claim that India was partly responsible for rising global food prices! India's prosperous middle classes, their food consumption habits, feeding pets, and what not they were heard quoting at. My question to them is, how much an average American weighs and an average Indian weighs? How much do an average individual in the US consume daily against an average Indian?

Total food grain consumption — wheat, rice, and all coarse grains like rye, barley etc — by each person in the US is over five times that of an Indian, according to figures released by the US Department of Agriculture for 2007.
Each Indian gets to eat about 178 kg of grain in a year, while a US citizen consumes 1,046 kg. In per capita terms, US grain consumption is twice that of the European Union and thrice that of China. Grain consumption includes flour and by conversion to alcohol.
In fact, per capita grain consumption has increased in the US — so actually the Americans are eating more. In 2003, US per capita grain consumption was 946 kg per year which increased to 1046 kg last year. By way of comparison, India’s per capita grain consumption has remained static over the same period.
It’s not just grains. Milk consumption, in fluid form, is 78 kg per year for each person in the US, compared to 36 kg in India and 11 kg in China.
Vegetable oils consumption per person is 41 kg per year in US, while Indians are making do with just 11 kg per year. These are figures for liquid milk, not for cheese, butter, yogurt and milk powders which are consumed in huge proportion in the more advanced countries.
A significant proportion of India’s population is vegetarian, and so, this is all the food that they get, apart from vegetables and pulses. But the source of carbohydrates and fats is mainly derived from food grains and oils.
As far as meat consumption is concerned, the US leads the world in per capita consumption by a wide margin. Beef consumption, for example, is 42.6 kg per person per year, compared to a mere 1.6 kg in India and 5.9 kg in China. In case you are thinking that perhaps Indians might be going in for chicken, think again. In the US, 45.4 kg poultry meat is consumed every year by each person, compared to just 1.9 kg in India. Pork consumption is negligible in India, while it is a major item elsewhere. In the European Union, 42.6 kg pork is consumed per person every year, while in the US, 29.7 kgs are consumed. Pork is a staple for Chinese, and so over 35 kg are consumed per person per year.
And, we are not talking about various other types of meat, like turkey. All these comparisons are for powerful economies, whether of the west or the east.
But the story would not be complete without mentioning the plight of Africa, where food grain consumption in 2007 was a mere 162 kg per year for each person, or about 445 grams per day. Don’t forget they are not getting any meat or milk products out there.
Perhaps, it is time to include the lifestyle choices of the West in the whole feverish debate on how to tackle the global food crisis. These figures are collated by the US Department of Agriculture. US per capita grain consumption rose from 946 kg in 2003 to 1046 kg last year. India’s per capita consumption remained static in this period.
They spend so much money to spy on the rest and create trouble elsewhere. Why not they spend the money usefully to help their own citizens? Funny that they don't want to accept the fact that US is facing a severe recession and that India and China are fast growing. Warren Buffet, the world's richest person, said on Sunday that the US economy is in recession, putting him at odds with a government report that showed weak growth! Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan said the US has slipped into an "awfully pale recession" and may continue to languish for the rest of the year.
Housing remains a critical problem. US home owners find their mortgage payments heading higher, or that their homes are worth less than they owe. The government could help borrowers who were misled on what they would owe. Its gonna cost you big bucks but definitely less than spend on ruthless attacks on civilians in Iraq and elsewhere!
Enough is Enough, humblest request to the administrators of US "We used to enjoy science fictions and toy stories from the West, it doesn't mean that we are still kids and you can smoke anything at anytime. We are ready to extend the support provided you don't make comedies overnight and make fool of yourself"
Wait Mr. Bush, did you forget to make this statement, "Developing nations like India and china are solely responsible for global warming related problems" ..... As such we are dying for another comedy flick from your administration.
Eat more Vegetables, be healthy, think healthy and act healthy.

Joke of the Century - 'Ruthless' LTTE inspired Al Qaeda in Iraq claims FBI

Take my word, that would be the topmost joke of this year and probably the most idiotic statement by any responsible government organization in the century. US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) claims such an idotic conclusion after spending few billions of what is already a crippling US economy. Off late it has been a trend by the different government agencies of US trying to poke thier nose into the internal affiars of other nations . It is a clear sign that the y are desparate to claim the title of "Super Power", which it had already lost due to its unpolitical and unethical operations.
........."Needless to say, the Tamil Tigers are among the most dangerous and deadly extremists in the world," the US investigating agency said in its website on Thursday."For more than three decades, the group has launched a campaign of violence and bloodshed in Sri Lanka. Its ultimate goal is to seize control of the country with the Sinhalese ethnic majority, and create an independent Tamil state."
"Along the way, it has launched suicide attacks, assassinated politicians (including a government minister this week and even the Sri Lankan president), taken hostages and committed all kinds of crimes to finance its operations. The resultant civil war has taken the lives of nearly 70,000 Sri Lankans on both sides of the conflict since 1983," the FBI said."We are determined to stop them, using the full range of our investigative and intelligence capabilities," it vowed..... Claims the joker at US Federal Organization!
If someone has to trace the roots of Al Qaeda, it would lead them to a group of "cunning and stupid" whites in the US. They groomed them with all those guirella warfares and supplied them with all those deadly weapons to fight against the innocent Russians. Thier mindset then was very clear - "Make Money - no matter what is the cost". No one would forget the number of innocent american soliders and iraqi civilians lost due to the stupid and nonsense blunder of one of the topmost, so claimed, intelligence in the world. World would not forget the day that the US President openly admitted that the intelligence was wrong in predicting that thier was something wrong with Iraq. But what was the outcome such a stupid conclusion? I feel that the recent statement of LTTE inspiring Al Qaeda is also one such.
Probably as clearly pointed out by the Chinese premier (some months ago, when US wanted China to control thier currency) it is high time that US should focus more on thier internal things and spend thier people's money in something useful to thier own fellow countrymen. Rather than making baseless statements and creating unrest in the asian region they should settle the worst economy setback in thier own land. Sorry Mr. Bush, time and again you and your government prove that you are not focused in the interest of Americans. Kindly try to do something useful before the next elections. Remain clear that only americans elect thier president and not the whole world - you might be the president of US and not the world.
